AN EXCITING TRANSFORMATION FOR THE COMMUNITY

The Culture and Humanities building project consisted of converting an existing vacant 21,000 sq.ft. bowling alley into an office administration building as part of an urban renewal project funded by both US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Chickasaw Nation.

The scope included over 50 private offices, training and conference spaces, and incorporated art and exhibit display areas throughout the building, including framed spaces on hallway walls to feature paintings.

The building transformation comprised of major exterior building improvements, a new covered drive-thru entry, site, and utility modifications, as well as a new parking lot and expansion on the adjacent property.

This was an exciting project for our BWA team as we transformed a building that was essentially a windowless masonry box, opening it up to bring a lot of natural light into the space. The project had immense structural challenges in that the exterior walls were all load bearing and our team had to work creatively to create the new transformed spaces.

This renovation project not only transformed the building itself but also the neighborhood and the community around it.
