Carl Lyon, RA
Senior Project Architect
Dallas Studio
Carl Lyon is a dedicated professional with a passion for both architecture and the simple joys of life. Carl has experience with Design, Construction Documents, Construction Administration, and Client Relations. A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, class of 1992, Carl officially began his architectural journey in 1994. While he has 17 years of professional registration, he considers his greatest achievement to be the privilege of fatherhood to his fourteen-year-old daughter. Working with children has brought him immense joy, and he previously volunteered his lunch hours to tutor 4th graders in DISD (Dallas Independent School District).
He was called to architecture when he was a kid when he and his brothers used to play in an abandoned farm stead. He was fascinated by the architecture of each building asking himself, “Why did they build it this way? What did they use this for?” The architecture spoke to him telling him stories and now he gets to be the storyteller. The idea that you can think something in your imagination and make it real and touchable fascinated him.
When he's not working, Carl enjoys spending quality time with his family and nurturing their bountiful vegetable garden. Witnessing the emergence of the first green leaf from the soil fills him with excitement, eagerly anticipating the growth and transformation of each plant over the course of months. In addition to his love for gardening, Carl actively engages as an enthusiastic member of FUMCR (First United Methodist Church of Richardson), relishing the numerous volunteer opportunities it offers. Since joining BWA in February 2009, Carl has played a pivotal role in taking care of clients and mentoring younger staff members, imparting his vast knowledge of architecture.
